## Description

## Overview

The LILYGO T-CAN485 combines an ESP32 with two critical industrial communication protocols: CAN bus and RS-485. This enables direct integration with automotive OBD-II systems, industrial Modbus networks, BMS battery management systems, and factory automation equipment — all accessible via WiFi and Bluetooth from a single $12 board.

The onboard CAN transceiver connects directly to the ESP32's TWAI (Two-Wire Automotive Interface) peripheral, while the RS-485 transceiver uses hardware flow-control for reliable half-duplex serial communication over long cable runs. The wide 5–12V power input range supports direct connection to automotive 12V systems or industrial DIN-rail power supplies without additional regulators.

A microSD card slot enables local data logging of CAN bus traffic or Modbus register histories. ESPHome support allows this board to serve as a Modbus RTU-to-MQTT bridge for Home Assistant, connecting legacy industrial equipment to modern smart home systems.
