## Description

## Overview

The BigTreeTech Eddy is an eddy current inductive probe designed for automatic bed leveling on Klipper-based 3D printers. Unlike traditional inductive probes, it uses an oscillating coil circuit to sense the distance to the print bed with 0.5μm precision. It is available as the Eddy Duo (USB + CAN), Eddy USB, and Eddy Coil (I2C, for attachment to a toolhead CAN board). The probe mounts on the standard Voron X carriage in the Omron inductive probe position.

## Key Features

The Eddy can function as both a bed probe and Z-endstop, and it supports rapid continuous bed mesh scanning for fast, high-resolution maps. The USB version includes temperature compensation calibration to correct for thermal drift during printing. Optimal mounting is 2–3mm above the print surface. The RP2040 MCU runs mainline Klipper firmware, and the device is found at `/dev/serial/by-id/` like any Klipper MCU.

## Open Source

Complete hardware documentation, 3D printable mounts for common printers, Klipper sample configuration files, and the user manual are published at github.com/bigtreetech/Eddy. Works exclusively with mainline Klipper firmware (Python 3 virtual environment required).
