Overview

The BigTreeTech SKSM V1.0 is a supercapacitor-based power loss recovery (PLR) module for Klipper 3D printers. When mains power is lost, the module detects the failure via a signal line to the mainboard MCU and provides backup power from its two 2.7V 20F supercapacitors, giving Klipper enough time to park the toolhead, save print state, and shut down gracefully.

Key Features

The SKSM provides approximately 13 seconds of runtime at up to 5W discharge, more than enough for Klipper's power loss recovery macro sequence. The supercapacitors fully recharge from zero in approximately 100 seconds. Three signal lines (PB0, PB1, PB2) connect to the mainboard for power detection and reset signaling via an XH2.54mm 5-pin cable. A USB Type-C port provides a 5V/2A output. Input accepts DC 12–24V. The compact board measures just 40.8 × 32.9mm.

Open Source

Hardware documentation including schematics and PCB layout files are published at github.com/bigtreetech/SKSM. Works with any Klipper printer on 12–24V DC power.
