The BigTreeTech Rodent V1.0 is a high-performance CNC controller board co-developed with RatRig, designed specifically for CNC engraving and milling machines. At its heart is an ESP32-D0WD-V3 dual-core microcontroller that runs FluidNC firmware — a powerful, web-configurable CNC firmware built on top of GRBL.

The board integrates four onboard TMC2160 stepper drivers in SPI mode, capable of handling up to 56V and 4.7A RMS each with a peak of 6.7A — suitable for high-torque motors driving demanding CNC operations. The I2S streaming step engine enables high microstepping rates without compromising ESP32 performance. Power inputs range from DC 24V to 56V with reverse polarity and overcurrent protection.

Communication options are extensive: WiFi 802.11 b/g/n at up to 150Mbps, USB Type-C with CH340 auto-burn, RS-485 with built-in 130Ω termination resistor, CAN bus, and I2C. The board supports an OLED display, 3-channel RGB LEDs, 5 optoisolated endstop inputs (5V/12V/VIN selectable), VProbe input, Spindle/VFD control via Huanyang Modbus, PWM output (3-10V), mechanical relay, and a TF card slot for local job storage.
