Overview

This project turns a LILYGO T5 4.7-inch e-paper display into a Home Assistant dashboard that monitors your smart home at a glance. The display shows entity tiles for switches, binary sensors, temperature readings, and even soil moisture data from LILYGO T-HIGROW plant sensors. Each tile has a customizable icon from Flaticon, making it easy to identify devices visually.

The firmware is written in C/C++ using PlatformIO and connects to Home Assistant via its REST API with authentication tokens. Deep sleep mode keeps battery consumption minimal — the board wakes up periodically to refresh the display with the latest entity states, then goes right back to sleep. The straightforward code structure makes it easy to add new device types and customize the tile layout.
