## Description

## Overview

The Adafruit FLORA v3 is a round, sewable Arduino-compatible microcontroller designed specifically for wearable electronics. Built around the ATmega32u4 at 8 MHz with 3.3V logic, the FLORA prioritizes ease of integration into fabric-based projects — featuring large, solderable pads spaced around a 45mm circular PCB that accept conductive thread or alligator clips (a v3 addition).

The board includes built-in USB via the ATmega32u4's native USB controller, supporting HID (keyboard/mouse emulation) and virtual serial communication without an external bridge chip. A JST connector accepts standard LiIon/LiPoly, LiFe, or alkaline batteries, and a 2A FET-controlled on/off switch protects the circuit. Polarized connectors and Schottky diodes prevent damage from reversed battery connections.

Version 3 (July 2016) added alligator-clip-friendly pads and updated silkscreen for improved usability. The onboard programmable NeoPixel RGB LED (added in v2) enables visual output without additional hardware. The board can drive up to 50 NeoPixel LEDs directly, or 500+ with an external power supply.

With 14 sewing attachment points, four status indicator LEDs, a reset button, and an ICSP connector for advanced reprogramming, the FLORA v3 is a complete wearable development platform supported by dozens of Adafruit tutorials covering LED accessories, GPS wearables, and interactive costumes.
