Overview
The LILYGO T3 S3 is an affordable ESP32-S3 LoRa development board offering the ESP32-S3's processing power with multiple LoRa module choices. Available with SX1262 (433/868/915 MHz), SX1276, SX1280 (2.4 GHz), or LR1121 for multi-band operation, it covers virtually all LoRa deployment scenarios at a competitive price point.
The onboard 0.96-inch OLED display (SSD1306, 128×64, I2C) provides basic status display for Meshtastic nodes, showing signal strength, message count, and position data without requiring an external display. The 18650 battery support enables portable off-grid operation for field deployments.
With 4MB flash and 2MB PSRAM on the ESP32-S3FH4R2, the T3 S3 is slightly more constrained than PSRAM-heavy variants, but fully capable of running Meshtastic firmware, custom LoRa sensor nodes, and Arduino LoRa applications. The combination of WiFi, BLE, and LoRa in one affordable package makes it popular for gateway-less mesh networking experiments.
Use Cases
3IoT Gateway
Acting as a local IoT gateway that aggregates data from sensors, runs MQTT broker, Node-RED, or Home Assistant, and bridges to the cloud.
Long-Range IoT
IoT deployments using LoRa or sub-GHz radio for communication ranges of several kilometers.
LoRa Messenger
Build an off-grid text messaging device using LoRa for range and low power.
