Overview
The Heltec HT-M01S (Rev.2.0) is a compact indoor LoRaWAN gateway that replaces the traditional Linux-based gateway architecture with a cost-effective ESP32-based design. By running the SX1303 packet forwarder directly on the ESP32, it eliminates the need for a separate Linux host, significantly reducing complexity, power consumption, and cost while maintaining full 8-channel LoRaWAN gateway functionality.
The gateway features dual network backhaul options — WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and 100Mbps Ethernet — allowing flexible deployment in factories, warehouses, offices, and homes. A built-in 1.8-inch TFT display shows real-time gateway status including device ID, IP address, frequency band, and packet statistics, making deployment and troubleshooting straightforward.
At its core, the SX1303 baseband processor paired with SX1250 RF front-end transceivers delivers -139 dBm receive sensitivity and up to +27 dBm transmit power, with support for 8 simultaneous uplink channels and 1 downlink channel. The gateway supports LoRaWAN 1.0.2 Class A and Class C protocols and is compatible with major network servers including TTN/TTS and ChirpStack. Configuration is handled through a built-in web interface accessible over WiFi or Ethernet, with firmware upgradable via USB or OTA.
The HT-M01S V2 ships in a compact aluminum enclosure with tempered glass panel, wall-mountable design, and includes both WiFi and LoRa antennas plus a USB Type-C cable. Available in EU868, US915/AU915/AS923, and CN470 frequency variants.
