Overview

The Heltec HT-M02 Edge LoRa Gateway (V2) is a rugged, industrial-grade LoRaWAN gateway designed for demanding outdoor deployments. Built around a Rockchip RK3566 quad-core Cortex-A55 processor running Debian 10 Linux with Docker pre-installed, it provides genuine edge computing capability — users can run LoRa network servers like ChirpStack or The Things Stack directly on the device, eliminating the need for a separate cloud server in LAN-based IoT deployments.

The gateway uses a Semtech SX1303 baseband processor paired with SX1250 RF front ends for 8-channel simultaneous LoRa packet reception with support for SF5-SF12 spreading factors. The SX1303's Fine Timestamp feature enables Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) network-based geolocation, making it suitable for asset tracking and positioning applications. LoRa TX power reaches up to 26 dBm with RX sensitivity down to -139 dBm at SF12/125kHz.

Enclosed in an all-aluminum IP66 waterproof housing, the HT-M02 V2 is built for harsh environments including temperature extremes (-40 to +85 C), dust, vibration, and direct weather exposure. The fanless passive cooling design ensures long-term reliability with no moving parts. Connectivity options are modular: the base model includes Gigabit Ethernet backhaul, while optional configurations add LTE Cat.1/Cat.4 cellular, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, and IEEE 802.3af PoE power input. A UART debug interface with standard baud rate (115200) provides low-level access for troubleshooting and development.

The device ships as a complete gateway kit including LoRa antenna, power adapter with waterproof DC connector, 3-meter waterproof Ethernet cable, wall mounting bracket, and SMA-to-N antenna adapter. It supports firmware updates via OTA or TF card and provides a local web configuration interface for easy setup without SSH access.
