Overview
The Heltec HT-M2802 is an indoor edge computing LoRaWAN gateway built around a Rockchip RK3566 quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor running at 1.8GHz, paired with 2GB DDR4 RAM and 32GB eMMC storage. It runs a pre-installed Debian 10 Linux operating system (kernel 4.19.219, aarch64) with Docker support out of the box, making it a powerful platform for self-hosted LoRaWAN infrastructure.
The LoRa subsystem uses a Semtech SX1303 baseband processor paired with SX1250 RF front-ends, providing 8-channel LoRa reception with industry-leading -139dBm sensitivity (SF12, 125kHz) and up to +26dBm transmit power. The gateway is available in three frequency variants covering CN470, EU868/IN865, and US915/AU915/AS923/KR920 bands, supporting a wide range of regional LoRaWAN deployments.
Network connectivity options include Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000M), dual-band WiFi (2.4GHz/5GHz), and Bluetooth 4.0 (HS + BLE). The device can operate as a standalone LoRaWAN network server by installing ChirpStack or The Things Stack directly on the gateway, or it can forward packets to external network servers. SSH root access is available for full system administration, and configuration is managed through a web interface accessible over LAN.
Enclosed in an aluminum and acrylic shell measuring 120 x 115 x 35mm, the HT-M2802 operates across a wide temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius and accepts 4.5-17V DC power input. It includes an anti-theft lock port, five status LEDs, and a USB Type-C port for firmware flashing. The gateway is designed for smart building, smart agriculture, industrial IoT, and environmental monitoring deployments.
Use Cases
