## Description

## Overview

The Louder ESP32 by Sonocotta is an ESP32-powered audio development board that pairs a dual-core ESP32-WROVER module with a TAS5805M I2S DAC and Class-D amplifier. It delivers 2x23W stereo output at 8 ohms or 45W bridged mono at 4 ohms, making it capable of driving full-size passive speakers for living room or whole-home audio setups. The TAS5805M's integrated DSP provides 15-band parametric EQ, 128-tap FIR filtering, 3-band dynamic range compression, and automatic gain limiting — all configurable over I2C.

Designed in a Raspberry Pi 4-compatible form factor, the Louder ESP32 fits standard Pi enclosures and supports optional add-ons including a 128x64 OLED display, W5500 Ethernet module for wired networking, and an INMP441 MEMS microphone for voice capture. The board accepts a wide power input range of 4.5V to 26V, allowing it to be powered from anything from a USB-C charger to a dedicated audio PSU.

The board ships with multiple firmware options out of the box: Squeezelite-ESP32 for Logitech Media Server, Spotify Connect, and AirPlay streaming; Snapclient for synchronized multi-room audio; and ESPHome for Home Assistant integration with text-to-speech announcements and media playback. Both hardware schematics and firmware are fully open-sourced under Apache 2.0 on GitHub, with browser-based web installers available for one-click firmware flashing.

Available in four variants — ESP32 or ESP32-S3, each with built-in PCB antenna or external U.FL/IPEX antenna connector — the Louder ESP32 serves as a versatile platform for network audio players, voice notification systems, DSP experimentation, and custom audio device prototyping.
