Boards:ESP32
Firmware:ESPHomeHome Assistant
Use Cases:Audio ProjectsHome Automation

Custom ESPHome component for the Sonocotta Louder ESP32 board (Rev-E) featuring the TAS5805M Class-D audio amplifier DAC from Texas Instruments.

What It Does

This project provides a complete ESPHome YAML configuration and custom C++ component (louderesp32.h) that initializes and controls the TAS5805M DAC via I2C, enabling the Louder ESP32 to function as a networked media player within Home Assistant.

Key Features

  • Custom TAS5805 driver class managing amplifier initialization via GPIO pin 33
  • I2C communication with DAC at address 0x2D
  • I2S audio output (LRCLK GPIO25, BCLK GPIO26, DOUT GPIO22)
  • Octal PSRAM mode at 80MHz for audio buffering
  • Power consumption under 20W at full load, 1.1W standby
  • Enable/disable switch exposed to Home Assistant

Setup

The project includes two main files:

  • louderesp32.yaml — ESPHome device configuration
  • louderesp32.h — Custom C++ component for TAS5805M control

Flash via ESPHome dashboard or CLI. The board appears as a media player entity in Home Assistant.
