## Description

## Overview

The ESP32-S3 Box (ESP-BOX) is Espressif's comprehensive AIoT development platform based on the ESP32-S3 dual-core 240 MHz SoC. Unlike bare dev boards, the Box is a complete enclosed device with a 2.4″ colour touchscreen, dual far-field microphones for offline voice wake-up and command recognition, and a speaker — all the ingredients for a smart home controller or voice-enabled IoT hub.

The ESP32-S3 brings meaningful AI acceleration compared to earlier ESP32 variants: vector instructions and a dedicated neural-network engine allow wake-word detection and simple on-device inference without cloud connectivity. Commands can be configured in both English and Chinese using Espressif's ESP-SR library, and the ESP-RainMaker framework connects the Box to cloud dashboards with minimal code.

Hardware expansion is available via two Pmod-compatible headers, enabling connection to a wide range of Digilent Pmod peripherals. An infrared controller lets the Box act as a universal remote. A USB-C port provides power and JTAG debugging. Internally the board carries 16 MB of QSPI Flash and 8 MB of Octal PSRAM, giving ample space for a full ESP-IDF application, LVGL GUI, and audio buffers simultaneously.

Espressif ships the Box with pre-built factory firmware demonstrating voice interaction, chatbot integration, and touch-UI navigation. Full hardware schematics and CAD files are available in the open-source GitHub repository.
