It combines the ATSAMD21G18 ARM Cortex-M0+ at 48 MHz with HopeRF's RFM96W module based on the Semtech SX1278. The 433 MHz frequency offers better RF propagation through obstacles and longer wavelengths compared to 868/915 MHz variants, often improving range or reliability in challenging environments such as urban areas or buildings with concrete walls. The SX1278 provides the same LoRa modulation capabilities as the SX1276 used in the 868/915 MHz variants. All features match the 900 MHz variant: 256KB flash, 32KB SRAM, 20 GPIO pins, 10 analog inputs, 8 PWM channels, native USB, u.FL antenna connector, and a 100mA LiPo charger. The RadioHead library and LMIC LoRaWAN stack both support this board, enabling raw LoRa packet communication and LoRaWAN network connectivity where 433 MHz infrastructure is available.
