## Description

## Overview

The Orange Pi 5 is a compact yet powerful single-board computer from Xunlong, built around the Rockchip RK3588S SoC. This octa-core processor features four Cortex-A76 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores clocked up to 2.4GHz, paired with a Mali-G610 GPU and a 6 TOPS neural processing unit. It is available in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB LPDDR4X configurations, making it suitable for a wide range of compute-intensive workloads.

Storage options are flexible: a microSD slot handles the primary OS, while an onboard eMMC module and an M.2 slot (supporting both NVMe and SATA SSDs) allow for faster and larger storage configurations. Connectivity includes a Gigabit Ethernet port capable of near-wire-speed throughput, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, and a USB-C port for both data and power delivery. Optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are available via an M.2 wireless module (e.g., AP6275P).

The board runs Armbian (Ubuntu and Debian variants) with hardware-accelerated 4K video playback supported in Chromium and Kodi under GBM/Wayland. Its combination of raw CPU performance, NPU, and I/O density makes it a popular choice for AI inference at the edge, media centers, desktop replacement, and network-attached storage builds.
