Allwinner A64 quad-core Cortex-A53 @ 1.152GHz SoC with Mali-400 GPU — first 64-bit Allwinner processor for maker boards.
Overview
The Pine64 is an affordable 64-bit single-board computer from the Pine64 community, built around the Allwinner A64 — the first 64-bit ARM SoC from Allwinner. It launched with up to 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and Gigabit Ethernet, offering 64-bit Linux computing at a price point that undercut similar boards at launch. The LTS (Long-Term Support) variant provides an extended production lifecycle for industrial and commercial deployments.
The board features a full-size HDMI 2.0 port capable of 4K output, 2× USB 2.0 ports, a microSD slot, a 40-pin Euler bus GPIO header, and an optional DSI display connector. WiFi and Bluetooth are not included onboard but can be added via optional USB dongles or expansion modules. The 5V barrel jack power input accommodates a wide range of power supplies, and the board is well-suited for both headless server and desktop media playback use cases.
Armbian provides well-maintained images for the Pine64, offering Debian and Ubuntu environments with community support for GPU acceleration and video decoding via the Cedar VPU. The Pine64 remains relevant as an entry-level 64-bit Linux learning platform and affordable server board, particularly for self-hosting, network-attached storage, and home server applications where cost-efficiency is paramount.
