## Description

## Overview

The NanoPi R4S is one of the most popular open-source router boards, built around the proven Rockchip RK3399 with dual Cortex-A72 cores at 2.0GHz and quad Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz. With 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports (one native, one PCIe), it delivers excellent routing and firewall throughput.

Two USB 3.0 Type-A ports enable NAS functionality with external drives, while the compact 66×66mm form factor with optional metal case makes it deployable anywhere. A 10-pin GPIO header provides I2C and SPI for sensor expansion.

Running FriendlyWrt (OpenWrt) out of the box, it's widely used as a home router, VPN gateway, Pi-hole ad blocker, and network monitoring appliance. The large community and extensive OpenWrt package ecosystem make it one of the most versatile network appliance platforms available at its price point.
