Overview
The Banana Pi CM4 IO board is a carrier board designed for SinoVoip's BPI-CM4 compute module, which is powered by the Rockchip RK3566 quad-core Cortex-A55 SoC at up to 1.8 GHz. The module ships with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB eMMC storage. The RK3566 integrates a Mali-G52 GPU and a 0.8 TOPS NPU for light AI inference workloads, making it a capable platform for edge computing applications.
The carrier board expands the CM4 module with a rich set of I/O: Gigabit Ethernet, dual HDMI outputs, USB 3.0 ports, a PCIe slot for NVMe SSDs or other expansion cards, a microSD socket, and a 40-pin GPIO header for embedded interfacing. Wireless connectivity is provided by an 802.11ac (WiFi 5) and Bluetooth 5.0 combo. The Raspberry Pi CM4-compatible form factor means many CM4 accessories and carrier board designs are reusable.
Power is supplied via a 12V DC barrel jack. Armbian offers standard support for this platform, making it accessible for Linux-based product development, industrial prototyping, and advanced maker projects requiring a modular compute-and-carrier architecture.
