Overview

The Mekotronics R58-4X4 is a purpose-built Rockchip RK3588 embedded PC designed for multi-source video capture, digital signage, and broadcast applications. Its defining feature is four independent HDMI input ports, each accepting sources up to 4K@60Hz simultaneously — a capability unavailable on standard SBCs. Combined with an HDMI 2.1 output supporting 8K@60Hz, the board acts as a multi-input video matrix or capture station.

Built on the RK3588 octa-core ARM SoC with 6 TOPS NPU, the system supports up to 16GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB eMMC, with an M.2 NVMe slot for additional high-speed storage. Connectivity includes Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi 6, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, and a USB Type-C port, plus a mini PCIe slot with Nano SIM for optional 4G LTE or GPS modules.

The RK3588's hardware 8K video decoder (H.265/VP9 @ 60fps) and 4K encoder handle transcoding and recording of captured HDMI streams with minimal CPU overhead. Android, Debian, Buildroot, and Armbian are all supported.

The R58-4X4 is used in video wall control systems, digital signage managers, multi-source recording setups, broadcast monitoring stations, and video conference rooms where multiple HDMI sources need to be managed by a single low-power ARM computer.
