Overview
The Khadas VIM3L is a cost-effective variant of the VIM3, built around the Amlogic S905D3 quad-core Cortex-A55 SoC. While it shares the same form factor and many of the connectivity features of its sibling, the VIM3L focuses on delivering strong media performance at a lower price point, making it an excellent choice for budget-conscious builders and media enthusiasts.
The board supports up to 4GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 32GB of eMMC flash storage, with a microSD slot for additional flexibility. It features three USB-A ports, a USB-C port with Power Delivery support (5V–20V), dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, and Gigabit Ethernet. Armbian provides robust OS support with Debian and Ubuntu images.
With hardware AV1 decode capability and a Mali-G31 GPU, the VIM3L excels as a compact media center. Its USB-C PD power input allows it to be powered by modern laptop chargers, adding convenience in desktop and embedded deployments. For users who don't require the AI/NPU capabilities of the VIM3, the VIM3L offers an efficient and well-connected alternative.
