## Overview

The Khadas VIM3 is the flagship of the original VIM series, powered by the Amlogic A311D — a hexa-core SoC combining four Cortex-A73 performance cores with two Cortex-A53 efficiency cores, clocked at up to 2.2 GHz. With up to 4GB of DDR4 RAM, a Mali-G52 MP4 GPU, and an integrated 5 TOPS Neural Processing Unit, the VIM3 bridges the gap between general-purpose SBCs and dedicated AI inference hardware.

The board offers a comprehensive set of interfaces: three USB-A ports, two USB-C ports (one supporting USB Power Delivery up to 20V), Wi-Fi 5 dual-band wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, and Gigabit Ethernet. An M.2 slot for NVMe SSDs further extends its storage capabilities. MicroSD and up to 32GB of eMMC provide flexible boot and storage options. Armbian delivers well-maintained OS images for the VIM3.

The VIM3 is particularly well-suited for edge AI applications, where its NPU can accelerate neural network inference tasks such as object detection and image classification without offloading to the cloud. It is equally capable as a desktop computing platform, media server, or development board for advanced IoT and vision projects.
