Overview

The Khadas VIM1S is a refreshed compact SBC based on the Amlogic S905Y4 quad-core Cortex-A55 processor running at up to 2.0 GHz. It ships with a generous 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB of eMMC flash as standard, offering more memory than its predecessor right out of the box. The eMMC-only design removes the microSD slot in favor of a more reliable and faster onboard storage solution.

Wireless connectivity is handled by dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1, while wired networking is provided via a 100Mbps Ethernet port. The USB configuration includes one USB-C and one USB-A port. Power is supplied through the USB-C connector at 5V. Armbian provides official support with up-to-date Debian and Ubuntu images.

The VIM1S is targeted at users who want a straightforward, well-specced entry-level board with modern wireless capabilities. Its upgraded RAM and newer Cortex-A55 cores over the original VIM1 make it more capable for lightweight desktop use, media streaming, and home automation tasks, while the smaller footprint and simpler power requirements keep it approachable for first-time SBC users.
