Overview

PlantStatus is a standalone firmware for the LILYGO T-Higrow that provides a rich web-based monitoring interface running directly on the ESP32 — no cloud required. It records soil sensor readings along with ambient temperature and humidity, stores them locally in SPIFFS, and serves live charts and a configuration portal over WiFi.

Features

The application captures readings from the onboard soil sensors and optional external sensors (DHT11/12/22, BME280, BH1750 light meter), then stores daily and monthly CSV logs in SPIFFS flash storage. A built-in WebSocket-powered web interface displays real-time measurements and 24-hour history graphs directly in any browser on the same network.

For smart home integration, PlantStatus supports MQTT with Home Assistant auto-discovery, so sensors appear automatically in HA without manual configuration. The firmware also implements deep sleep for battery-powered deployments and includes an MQTT command interface for remote reconfiguration. A captive portal configuration page makes initial WiFi and MQTT setup straightforward.

Getting Started

Flash the firmware via the Arduino IDE or PlatformIO, connect to the device's initial access point to configure WiFi and MQTT credentials, then access the web UI at the device's local IP address. The project's GitHub page includes pre-built firmware and a full build guide.
