Overview
The LILYGO T-SIM7600E-L1 is a step up from the T-SIM7000E series, upgrading the cellular modem from LTE Cat-M/NB-IoT to a full 4G LTE CAT4 SIM7600E modem capable of up to 150Mbps downlink. This makes it suitable for applications that need significantly higher bandwidth than LPWA technologies allow, such as video streaming, large file transfers, or cloud synchronization of large datasets.
The SIM7600E targets European frequency bands and includes an integrated GPS receiver, making this a complete cellular + positioning platform. The board retains the ESP32's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities alongside the cellular modem, allowing for local mesh networking or Wi-Fi access point functionality combined with cellular backhaul.
Power options mirror the rest of the LILYGO SIM series: USB Type-C for development, an 18650 battery holder for portable operation, and a JST 2-pin 2.0mm solar input for off-grid deployments. The CH9102F USB bridge chip handles serial programming, and both LTE and GPS antennas are included in the package.
The SIM7600 series is supported by the TinyGSM library and by AT command libraries for ESP-IDF, with dedicated examples in the LilyGo-Modem-Series GitHub repository. This board is well-suited for European vehicular tracking, high-bandwidth environmental monitoring, remote video surveillance, and industrial applications requiring reliable 4G data connections.
Firmware Compatibility
- Arduino: Supported via TinyGSM library with the SIM7600 modem type.
- ESP-IDF: Supported via direct UART AT command communication with the SIM7600E.
Flashing Guide
- Install the CH9102F driver from WCH.
- Connect via USB Type-C cable.
- In Arduino IDE, select "ESP32 Dev Module" and the correct COM port.
- Install the TinyGSM library and set the modem type to TINY_GSM_MODEM_SIM7600.
- Insert a nano SIM card with 4G LTE European band support.
- Connect both the provided LTE antenna and GPS antenna before powering the board.
- See https://github.com/Xinyuan-LilyGO/LilyGo-Modem-Series for T-SIM7600X examples and AT command reference.
