T3-S3 E-Paper Meshtastic LoRa Node
Run Meshtastic mesh networking firmware on the LILYGO T3-S3 E-Paper, combining ESP32-S3, SX1262 LoRa, and a 2.13" e-paper display for off-grid text messaging with persistent screen status.
Overview
The LILYGO T3-S3 E-Paper is the first LILYGO board combining an ESP32-S3 SoC, SX1262 LoRa transceiver, and a 2.13-inch e-paper display (250×122) — making it ideal for Meshtastic mesh network nodes where a persistent status display is required without battery-draining backlit screens.
Meshtastic firmware can be flashed directly to the T3-S3 E-Paper, enabling off-grid LoRa mesh messaging with the e-paper panel showing node status, received messages, and GPS coordinates (when an external GPS module is attached).
Features
- Meshtastic off-grid LoRa mesh networking (SX1262, 868/915 MHz)
- 2.13" e-paper status display (DEPG0213BN, 250×122) — always visible, zero power draw when static
- ESP32-S3 with WiFi + BLE 5.0 for configuration via phone app
- Low-power operation with e-paper persistence
- Supports SX1280 (2.4 GHz), SX1276, SX1262 module variants
- Arduino / PlatformIO build via LilyGo-LoRa-Series repo
Hardware
- LILYGO T3-S3 E-Paper (ESP32S3FH4R2, 4 MB Flash, 2 MB PSRAM)
- SX1262 LoRa (868 or 915 MHz)
- 2.13" e-paper display
- Qwiic/STEMMA QT connector for I2C sensors
Build
Flash Meshtastic firmware using the official Meshtastic flasher, or build from the LilyGo-LoRa-Series PlatformIO project for custom firmware. The T3S3 E-Paper target is supported in Meshtastic firmware.
