T-Watch S3 ESPHome Integration for Home Assistant

A complete ESPHome configuration for the LILYGO T-Watch S3 that enables all onboard hardware — touchscreen, accelerometer, microphone, speaker, IR blaster, and voice assistant — through Home Assistant integration.

Boards:ESP32-S3
Firmware:ESPHomeHome Assistant
Use Cases:Home AutomationWearableIoT Prototyping

Overview

This project by velijv provides a comprehensive ESPHome YAML configuration that unlocks every hardware capability of the LILYGO T-Watch S3, integrating it fully with Home Assistant. Instead of writing custom Arduino firmware, the entire T-Watch S3 feature set is described in ESPHome's declarative configuration format, making it approachable for home automation enthusiasts who already use ESPHome for other devices.

What Gets Enabled

The configuration implements drivers for the ST7789V 240×240 IPS LCD touchscreen with FT6336 capacitive touch controller, the BMA423 accelerometer (step counting, tap-to-wake, tilt detection), the PCF8563 real-time clock, the AXP2101 power management unit (battery monitoring, charging control), the SPM1423HM4H-B PDM microphone, and the MAX98357A speaker amplifier. An infrared transmitter with dynamic protocol support is included, even implementing a TV-B-Gone style universal remote.

Voice Assistant

One of the standout features is full ESPHome voice assistant support — the T-Watch S3 can function as a wrist-mounted voice assistant device for Home Assistant, listening for commands and speaking responses through its onboard speaker.

Getting Started

With ESPHome already installed in Home Assistant, adopting this project is a matter of copying the provided YAML configuration and flashing it over USB or OTA. No C++ development environment is needed. The project demonstrates how the T-Watch S3's ESP32-S3 and onboard peripherals map cleanly to ESPHome's component system.
