Overview
The LILYGO T-Beam Supreme is a co-designed product between LILYGO and the Meshtastic project, making it one of the best-integrated hardware choices for running Meshtastic firmware. With an ESP32-S3 dual-core processor, Semtech SX1262 LoRa transceiver, and a choice of u-blox NEO-M10S or Quectel L76K GPS modules, the Supreme offers improved receive sensitivity and transmit power compared to the original T-Beam, translating directly into longer range and more reliable mesh links.
Setting Up Meshtastic
LILYGO sells the T-Beam Supreme pre-flashed with Meshtastic, or firmware can be installed via the official web flasher at flasher.meshtastic.org. ESP32-S3 devices require entering firmware download mode via the "1200bps reset" trigger in the flasher. Post-flash configuration is done through the Meshtastic app on iOS or Android over Bluetooth, or through the built-in WiFi web interface — a feature that ESP32-based nodes have over nRF52 alternatives.
Range and Deployment
Community members have reported 10+ km point-to-point links between a T-Beam Supreme and a T-Echo using stock antennas, and significantly more with upgraded antennas at elevated positions. The 18650 battery holder supports multi-day standalone operation, making the Supreme ideal as a fixed relay node on a rooftop, hillside, or solar-powered post. The 1.3-inch OLED display shows real-time mesh statistics including node count, received messages, and GPS lock status.
