ESPHome Home Assistant Panel for T-Display

An ESPHome template for the LILYGO T-Display (ESP32 + 1.14" display) that shows Home Assistant sensor data on the screen, monitors battery state, and handles GPIO button inputs.

Boards:ESP32
Firmware:ESPHomeHome Assistant
Use Cases:Display & DashboardHome Automation

Overview

This ESPHome configuration template connects the original LILYGO T-Display (ESP32 with 1.14-inch display) to Home Assistant as a small desktop sensor panel. Sensor values from the Home Assistant instance are pushed to the display over WiFi using the native ESPHome API, with no cloud services involved.

Features

The template renders sensor information on the 135×240 display, monitors a connected lithium-polymer battery's charge level, and handles the two onboard GPIO buttons for bidirectional interaction — for example, confirming alerts or cycling through display pages. Configuration is handled entirely through ESPHome YAML files with no custom C++ code required.

Build Details

The repository includes multiple YAML files for different configurations (base, TTG, e-paper extension), a custom fonts directory, and example secrets. The project evolved from custom display components to using ESPHome's native screen API as the framework matured. It has 64 GitHub stars — the highest-starred ESPHome project specifically targeting the T-Display among easily searchable repositories. MIT-compatible, straightforward to adapt for any Home Assistant sensor.
