ESPHome external component by dyptan-io for the Chirp / Catnip I2C soil moisture sensor on ESP32. Reads soil moisture, temperature, and light intensity with YAML-based configuration and Home Assistant integration.

Boards:ESP32
Firmware:ESPHomeHome Assistant
Use Cases:Environmental MonitoringHome Automation

Overview

An ESPHome external component that enables ESP32 boards to communicate with the Chirp / Catnip Electronics I2C soil moisture sensor. Created by dyptan-io, it provides a clean YAML-based configuration for all three sensor measurements and integrates directly with Home Assistant.

Features

  • Soil moisture with configurable min/max calibration points
  • Temperature reading with offset adjustment
  • Light intensity converted to lux using configurable formula
  • Raw or calibrated output modes for each sensor
  • 3D-printable sensor casing included in the repository (translucent material recommended for light sensing)
