ESP32 UWB Outdoor Positioning with OLED Display
Outdoor UWB positioning system using Makerfabs ESP32 UWB Pro with Display modules. Anchors and tags show real-time distance and position data on their built-in OLED screens, with Python visualization over UDP.
Overview
This official Makerfabs example extends UWB positioning to outdoor scenarios, specifically leveraging the ESP32 UWB Pro with Display variant. Both anchor and tag devices show live data on their onboard 1.3" OLED displays, making it possible to monitor positioning without needing a separate computer nearby.
How It Works
- Anchor nodes with displays (
anchor_display) are placed at known outdoor positions, showing incoming distance measurements on the OLED - Tag nodes with displays (
udp_tag_display) roam freely, measuring distance to each anchor and displaying results - A Python script (
uwb_position2.0.py) receives UDP data and renders 2D position on a computer
Hardware Required
- 3x Makerfabs ESP32 UWB Pro with Display (or at least the tag and one anchor should have displays)
- USB cables or battery power for outdoor deployment
- Computer running Python for centralized visualization
