YAFC Flip Clock for T-Display S3
An animated flip clock for the LILYGO T-Display S3 with smooth 3-step digit rotation transitions, 12/24-hour modes, and a demo mode that accelerates time to show cascading animations.
Overview
YAFC (Yet Another Flip Clock) was created after the author discovered that LILYGO's factory sample code for the T-Display S3 showed a static flip clock graphic with no real animation. This project fixes that — digits actually flip with three-frame rotation transitions (45°, 90°, 135°) giving the visual weight of a real mechanical split-flap display.
Features
The clock supports 24-hour, 12-hour, and 12-hour-with-blank-leading-zero display modes, toggled via the hardware buttons. A flashing colon separates hours from minutes. Demo mode compresses one minute into six seconds to let you watch all the digit positions cascade through their animations without waiting.
Build Details
Built with PlatformIO and TFT_eSPI, with digit frames stored on the LittleFS filesystem. The repository includes an animation sequence walkthrough in its documentation images. Written in C++ with some Python build tooling. This project is a clean, focused implementation that's easy to adapt as a starting framework for any clock-based T-Display S3 project.
