TRGB Bike Computer — Cycling Dashboard for Round Display
A bike computer for the LILYGO T-RGB round display integrating BLE speed/cadence/heart rate sensors, Forumslader V5 dynamo hub charging, and Komoot turn-by-turn navigation on a circular gauge.
Overview
TRGB-BikeComputer (23+ GitHub stars) is a cycling dashboard that leverages the LILYGO T-RGB's circular display perfectly — the round form factor naturally suits speedometer gauges, compass headings, and cycling metrics. It integrates with standard BLE cycling sensors for speed, cadence, and heart rate, plus Komoot for turn-by-turn navigation hints.
Key Features
- Round Gauge Display: Speed, cadence, and heart rate displayed as circular gauges on the T-RGB's 480×480 round screen
- BLE Sensor Integration: Connects to standard Bluetooth cycling sensors (speed/cadence combo, heart rate monitors)
- Komoot Navigation: Receive turn-by-turn navigation hints from the Komoot cycling app via BLE
- Forumslader V5: Integration with Forumslader V5 dynamo hub charger for power data
- Ride Data: Distance, elapsed time, average speed, and elevation tracking
- Touchscreen: Navigate screens and settings via the T-RGB's capacitive touch
Getting Started
Flash the firmware via PlatformIO. Mount the T-RGB on your handlebars (3D-printable mount recommended). Pair your BLE cycling sensors. Open Komoot on your phone and start navigation — directions appear on the round display. Ride data is logged locally.
Why This Project
The T-RGB's round display has been waiting for this use case. Circular gauges are the natural way to display speed and RPM, and the 480×480 resolution provides crisp, readable graphics at arm's length. Unlike phone-based bike computers, a dedicated display is always visible, doesn't drain your phone battery, and survives rain better. This is the first project that gives the T-RGB a practical, purpose-built application.
