TinkerRTK Cellular NTRIP with SIM7000
Arduino sketches for using TinkerNav with the TinkerSend Mobile SIM7000 4G module to download RTK corrections from an NTRIP caster over cellular, enabling rover operation in remote areas without WiFi.
Overview
This project enables RTK positioning in remote locations by using a 4G cellular connection to download RTCM correction data from an NTRIP caster. The TinkerSend Mobile module (based on the SIMCom SIM7000G) provides LTE connectivity for the TinkerNav board, eliminating the need for WiFi infrastructure.
Key Features
- Cellular Connectivity: Uses SIM7000G 4G LTE module for internet access anywhere with cell coverage
- Remote Operation: Ideal for field surveying, agriculture, and outdoor robotics far from WiFi
- NTRIP Integration: Downloads correction data from standard NTRIP casters
- AT Command Library: Includes the AT_NTRIP library for managing SIM7000 communication
- Battery Powered: Combine with TinkerCharge for solar-powered field deployment
Hardware Required
- 1x TinkerNav RTK GNSS base board
- 1x TinkerSend Mobile (SIM7000G) module
- 1x GNSS antenna (multi-band)
- 1x cellular antenna
- SIM card with active data plan
- USB-C cable for programming
- Optional: TinkerCharge + LiPo battery + solar panel
