Boards:ESP32-S3
Firmware:ArduinoPlatformIO
Use Cases:Portable DeviceMesh NetworkingE-Paper & Signage

Overview

s-term turns the LILYGO T-Deck Pro into a fully functional portable terminal. The default mode is a keyboard-driven notepad rendered on the e-ink display, with files saved to SD card. Typing ssh switches to terminal mode, connecting over WiFi with optional WireGuard VPN fallback. Files on the SD root can be edited on-device or synced bidirectionally with a remote server via SCP mirroring (upload / download commands).

Key Features

  • Notepad mode — full-screen e-ink text editor with keyboard input and file persistence
  • SSH terminal — connects to remote hosts over WiFi; supports VPN fallback via WireGuard
  • BLE HID — toggles the device as a Bluetooth keyboard + trackpad peripheral
  • SD card config — WiFi credentials, SSH hosts, WireGuard keys, timezone, and Meshtastic channel all configured from a /CONFIG file on the SD card
  • Meshtastic — optional LoRa mesh radio integration with configurable channel and encryption key
  • 4G LTE — cellular connectivity supported on the T-Deck Pro 4G variant

Technical Details

The firmware is built with PlatformIO and requires uv for Python helper scripts. It targets the LilyGo T-Deck Pro's ESP32-S3, e-ink display, hardware keyboard, SD card, and optional GPS, BLE, and LoRa radio. Active development — the feature set is rapidly expanding.
