Retro Power Meter Display for T-Display S3
A retro-styled multimeter interface for the LILYGO T-Display S3 using an INA219 power sensor, displaying voltage, current, temperature, humidity, pressure, RTC time, and resistance on a classic LCD-style UI.
Overview
This project by Volos Projects turns the LILYGO T-Display S3 into a desktop power monitoring station with a UI that mimics a classic LCD multimeter. The 1.9-inch display is put to excellent use rendering both digital readouts and analog bar graphs in a retro color palette.
Sensors & Features
A Texas Instruments INA219 module measures voltage and current via I2C, while a Bosch BMP180 environmental sensor provides ambient temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure readings. A real-time clock module keeps the time display accurate. A linear potentiometer — described as a "brightness slider" — also gives analog resistance readings, adding a live readout to a physical dial interaction. All sensors connect via the T-Display S3's Grove I2C connector.
Build Details
Open-source Arduino sketch from VolosR (the Volos Projects YouTube channel), which routinely creates high-quality display projects for LILYGO hardware. The project was featured on Hackster.io. The code lives in the VolosR/PowerMeterTDisplay repository. Hardware required beyond the T-Display S3 is minimal: the INA219 module is widely available and costs under $3.
