Overview

DeskPet Watch extends the nikthefix T-Encoder Pro smart watch base with four major new capabilities: a Bluetooth HID scroll controller, a virtual desktop pet, live weather display, and dual-input brightness control. The rotary encoder is used as a premium physical scroll wheel for iPad and PC.

Key Features

Smart Bluetooth Scroll Controller

The encoder becomes a Bluetooth HID scroll controller with an "Accumulate & Accelerate" algorithm:

  • Slow turns give precise scrolling (3× speed); fast flicks trigger momentum skimming (up to 10× speed)
  • Lazy Bluetooth — radio is off by default and activates only when you click the knob into Scroll Mode
  • Auto-Focus Shake — on connect, briefly shakes scroll (-2, +2) to wake the paired iPad and grab focus
  • Zero Drift — auto-centers cursor position after scrolling ends

DeskPet Virtual Pet

A dedicated "Pet" app in the watch carousel showing an animated character with dynamic moods (Happy, Neutral, Sleeping) based on interaction time. Tap the pet to make it happy (plays squeak sound via the buzzer).

Weather Display

Live weather fetched from OpenWeatherMap over WiFi; NTP time sync on boot.

Dual-Control Brightness

A professional brightness menu replacing the unused "Call" screen: adjust via rotary encoder dial or touch-based arc slider, clamped between 10–255.

Technical Details

Built on PlatformIO + Arduino. WiFi credentials and OpenWeatherMap API key stored in a git-ignored secrets.h. Requires T-Encoder Pro hardware (ESP32-S3, SH8601 AMOLED, CHSC5816 touch, rotary encoder). Full flash instructions in the README.
