Overview
ChirpR OS is a community-developed firmware designed specifically for the LILYGO T-Deck Pro (audio variant). It transforms the e-paper keyboard device into a portable communication hub built for off-grid adventures, emergency preparedness, and remote work. The design philosophy centers on ease of use while packing in maximum functionality.
Applications
ChirpR OS ships with 17 built-in applications:
- Messages — LoRa mesh messaging (integration in progress)
- GPS — Real-time location logging with the onboard GNSS
- Music — Audio player with headphone support
- Health — Fitness tracking with step counting and AI-generated health insights via the onboard AI chip
- Notes — Text note-taking and SD card file management
- Voice — Audio recording and voice note playback
- WiFi / Bluetooth — Network connectivity and BLE device pairing
- Contacts, Calendar, Alarms, Steps, Calculator, Settings, Files
- MeshCore — Mesh networking integration (coming soon)
- Watch — T-Watch S3 Plus connectivity bridge (planned)
Technical Details
The firmware is built on top of LILYGO's official T-Deck Pro test firmware examples, extended and refactored into a full application OS. It is Arduino-based and targets the e-paper + keyboard + GPS + audio hardware configuration. The project is actively developed and welcomes community contributors.
