CapibaraZero — Open-Source Flipper Zero Alternative
A ground-up open-source Flipper Zero alternative firmware for ESP32-S3 hardware, covering WiFi, BLE, BadUSB, NFC, sub-GHz (CC1101), and IR with clean architecture and web flasher.
Overview
CapibaraZero is a from-scratch open-source Flipper Zero alternative built specifically for ESP32-S3 hardware like the LILYGO T-Embed CC1101. Unlike other projects that evolved from offensive tooling, CapibaraZero was designed from the ground up as a multi-protocol security research platform with clean code architecture and thorough documentation. Featured on Hackaday and CNX Software.
Key Features
- Sub-GHz (CC1101): Signal analysis and replay on 300–928 MHz bands
- NFC/RFID: Read, write, and emulate NFC tags via PN532 module
- WiFi: Network scanning, packet capture, and analysis
- BLE: Bluetooth Low Energy scanning and device fingerprinting
- BadUSB: HID keyboard injection with DuckyScript support
- Infrared: IR signal capture and replay for remote controls
- Web Flasher: Install directly from a browser — no development tools needed
Getting Started
Visit the CapibaraZero website and use the web flasher to install firmware on your T-Embed CC1101. The project provides detailed wiring guides for connecting optional modules (PN532 for NFC, GPS module, etc.).
Why This Project
CapibaraZero stands out for its clean architecture and educational focus — the codebase is well-structured and documented, making it ideal for learning about RF protocols and security research. The community is growing rapidly with active development and regular releases.
