Overview
ESP Easy includes Plugin P047 (Environment - Soil moisture sensor) which natively supports the Catnip Electronics / Miceuz I2C soil moisture sensor. The plugin enables ESP8266 boards running ESP Easy to read all three sensor values and publish them via MQTT or HTTP to home automation platforms.
Supported Sensors
The plugin supports multiple hardware variants:
- Catnip Electronics / Miceuz (original) — temperature, moisture, light, and sleep mode
- BeFlE v2.2 — temperature and moisture
- BeFlE v3.x — temperature, moisture, sleep mode, and version reporting
- Adafruit (4026) — temperature and moisture

Important Notes
- Pull-up resistors required on both I2C lines (Chirp does not work without them)
- On ESP8266, lower I2C clock speed and cable length for reliability
- Up to six sensors can be monitored with a single ESP8266 board
