Overview
The LILYGO T-Echo Plus is an enhanced version of the T-Echo platform, built around Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52840 ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller. The nRF52840 offers integrated BLE 5.0 with mesh networking support and exceptional power efficiency, making the T-Echo Plus ideal for battery-operated LoRa and Meshtastic deployments.
The board features a 1.22-inch SSD1681 e-paper display (176x192 pixels) that consumes virtually no power when static, extending battery life significantly. A SX1262 LoRa transceiver provides long-range communication in four frequency variants (433, 868, 915, and 920 MHz). GPS positioning is handled by the L76K GNSS module, and a 9-axis ICM20948 IMU adds motion sensing capability. External Flash of 32MB supplements the nRF52840's 1MB internal storage. Solar charging input (5V) is included for off-grid deployment.
The device achieves an impressively low deep sleep current of 2-10 µA, making it suitable for long-duration remote sensor or Meshtastic relay nodes. Available in White, Black, Grey, and Brown color options with pre-loaded LILYGO factory firmware for immediate use.
Firmware Compatibility
- Meshtastic — Fully supported; the nRF52840 + SX1262 combination is a primary Meshtastic hardware target.
- Arduino — Use the Arduino nRF52 (Adafruit nRF52) board package.
- SoftRF — Aviation and general-purpose radio firmware compatible with this hardware.
- Zephyr RTOS — Nordic's native RTOS for advanced embedded applications.
Flashing Guide
- Install the Adafruit nRF52 board support package in Arduino IDE.
- Connect via USB-C; the device appears as a mass storage device for UF2 drag-and-drop flashing.
- For Meshtastic: download the T-Echo .uf2 firmware from meshtastic.org and copy it to the device's USB drive.
- For Arduino: select Adafruit Feather nRF52840 as the board and flash via the Arduino IDE bootloader.
- For SoftRF: download the appropriate SoftRF binary and flash via UF2 method.
