Overview

The ESP32-S2 WOOR is a low-cost, compact development board built around the ESPRESSIF ESP32-S2-WROOM module. The ESP32-S2 features a single-core Xtensa LX7 processor with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity but notably without Bluetooth — making it a leaner choice for WiFi-only IoT applications where reduced cost and power consumption are priorities.

The board includes 4MB of flash and 320KB of SRAM, sufficient for most IoT workloads. A 32.768KHz crystal oscillator is onboard for accurate real-time clock functionality. LiPo battery connectivity is supported via a JST connector with 500mA charging current, and BOOT, RESET, and SMD DIP switch buttons are provided.

The board operates at 2.7-3.6V working voltage and is powered from USB at 5V/1A. It is compatible with standard ESP32-S2 development tools including Arduino, ESP-IDF, MicroPython, and CircuitPython.

Firmware Compatibility

The ESP32-S2 WOOR supports Arduino IDE, ESP-IDF, MicroPython, and CircuitPython. The LilyGo-esp32s2-base GitHub repository provides sample code and pin reference documentation.

Flashing Guide

  1. Install Arduino IDE with ESP32 board support (v2.0+)
  2. Select "ESP32S2 Dev Module" as the board
  3. Connect via USB and select the appropriate port
  4. Hold BOOT and press RESET to enter download mode
  5. Upload firmware, then press RESET to run
